Canine distemper antibody refers to antibodies used to detect and treat Canine Distemper Virus (CDV) infection. Canine distemper is a highly contagious disease caused by the canine distemper virus, which mainly affects canids, including dogs, foxes, wolves, etc. The virus can be spread through airborne droplets and direct contact.
Canine distemper antibodies are commonly used for two purposes: diagnosis and treatment. In terms of diagnosis, veterinarians can use the canine distemper antibody test to determine if a dog is infected with the distemper virus. Commonly used assays include enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and immunofluorescence assay (IFA). These methods can detect the level of distemper virus antibodies in dogs and thus determine the status of infection.
